The team’s pre-season was expected to end in the middle of September but the delayed started of the new season has forced Kotoko and other clubs at the various levels of club football in the country to be playing trial matches almost every week.
Of the 24 friendly matches played in Tamale, Kumasi, Obuasi, Techiman, Accra, Sokode and Lome, the fabulous lads have won 15; drawn seven and lost only two.
The two defeats were inflicted on Kotoko by Ashantigold in the Ghalca Top 4 competition.
The team has scored 56 goals and conceded 23 with quite a healthy goal difference of 33.
The matches have mostly been against second, first and Premier division teams. Four of the matches were against clubs outside Ghana – namely As Tanda from Cote d’Ivoire; AS Semassi and AS Port all of Togo.
Three of the 24 matches were played in August; eight in September; four in October and seven in November. So far two matches have been played this month with many on already planned by management in consultation with the technical team.
