Kotoko players must stop boozing – Sarfo Gyamfi

Asante Kotoko legend Sarfo Gyamfi says players of the club have to stop indulging in alcohol intake whilst playing for the club.

He told Kumasi-based Fox FM that the club’s players would need to be advised against drinking, especially when invited by supporters of the club.

“If you are a player of Asante Kotoko, you need to avoid certain things. For instance, you must not accept if a supporter offers to buy you an alcoholic drink because the day you do not play well, the same supporter will attack you because the team may have lost.

So a player of the club cannot do the things many people do,” he advised.

Gyamfi, who is also a former management member of the club added that some supporters had even told players in his presence that they had bought drinks for them, adding that some players even secretly send others to get the drinks for them.

“In my presence, one supporter asked a player whether he doesn’t remember that he bought the player an alcoholic drink at one time.

“We will personally advise the players on these things, and we will let them know that playing for Kotoko means that you cannot do certain things,” he said.

Fans of Asante Kotoko remain upset that the Porcupine Warriors have drawn their last two games against Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC.
