Kotoko's Akuffo extends contract

Ghana champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko have extended the contract of captain Michael Akuffo in a one year deal which runs until 2016.

The former Fetteh-Feyenoord box-to-box midfielder returned to Kotoko after a botched move to Libya and has extended his contract till 2016 due to political instability in that country.

The 29-year-old has promised to help the team successfully defend all the trophies they won last season.

"I'm happy to extend my stay at Kotoko till 2016. This club has given me a lot of things in my career and I've also promised to return every favour," Akuffo told Goal Ghana. "I will work had with the other players to defend the titles we won last season and even push for more this season".

Akuffo joined Asante Kotoko in 2011 and his current two-year contract was due to end on August 13, 2015 before extending it with a year.

He guided Kotoko to clinch their first double last season after winning the local league and FA Cup competition.
