Kotoko’s Bancey: I’m not after personal glory

Asante Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey believes he can only succeed if he plays his heart out for the Porcupine Warriors and shirks the idea of running after individual credit.

The forward was incredible on Sunday as the Ghana Premier League defending champions thrashed Medeama 4-1. He bagged a double to increase his tally to six goals in seven games after recovering from injury.

“As for targets I don’t think of targets because I play for a big club [Kotoko] and that is what I think about. I want the club to succeed and if they succeed I will also succeed so all I can say is that I am doing my best,” Bancey said after the win.

“Hard work and determination have changed my play. When we started the league I played twice and got injured and getting back to full fitness was difficult for me. It is only through hard work and confidence that is bringing the goals.”

He added: “The players are also determined to stay in the starting 11 and that is why we are all playing well. We play as a team and we are not interested in individual play.”
