Asante Kotoko striker, Songne Yacouba says he’s excited to have finally returned into action after being sidelined for months with a haunting injury.

The Burkinabe was a substitute in the 2-0 win over Etoile du Sahel in the first leg of the last qualifying round of the CAF Champions League.

It was a moving sight as the fans chanted his name, even giving him a standing ovation when his jersey number was displayed on the substitution board. When he came on eventually for Richard Arthur in the 55th minute to the delight of the cheering fans, Yacouba showed glimpses of his former self but he could not core.

The fan favourite told Ghanacrusader.com in an interview that, he’s poised to work hard to fight for a place in the team while admitting that, the second leg in Monastir, Tunisia won’t be a walk in the park for them but they’re determined to eliminate Etoile. “I am very, very happy with my return to the field and I will continue to work hard to get first for a place in the team” he said.

Songne Yacouba admitted that, Etoile is a formidable side yet he expressed the confidence that, they would be eliminated by the Porcupines on September 29 when the return fixture is played. “Of course, Etoile is a strong opponent. It won’t be easy but inshallah eliminate them”.
