Uncrowned league Champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko will bid farewell to new entrant Bechem united as the two sides meet at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 28th Glo Premiership fixture.
The Porcupine Warriors are occupying the summit of the table with a maximum 57 points with gab of 31 points between them and Bechem who are fifteenth on the log with just 26 points. Kotoko lost to a second tier side Amidaus fc last weekend and would like to appease their vociferous supporters with a handsome win over Bechem.
On the other hand, Bechem united are aware of the predicament that will befall them if they should even split a point with the red army let alone losing the three points. With the kind of materials that are at Maxwell Konadu’s disposal especially the midfield quartet of Michael Anaba, Daniel Nii Adjei, Michael Akuffo and Fatau Dauda, Bechem should brace themselves up to cashing their money at the relegation bank.
At the Karl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, scientific soccer lads, Liberty Professionals will play host to Medeama Sporting Club. The host is eighth on the ladder with 39 points whiles Medeama occupies the third spot with 42 points.
Medeama for my money has been very impressive to watch in this second round whether playing home or away especially when their attacking trio of Luis Agyeman, Hans Kwofie and Tanko Mohammed are on top of issues.
All Stars will welcome soccer miners Ashantigold at the Wa Park. The soccer miners are fifth on the log with 42 points whiles All Stars have dropped to the ninth position with 38 points. All Stars have been quite impressive at their back yard and if luck should smile at them then they will surely pick up the three points but Ashantigold can cause a surprise.
At the Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa, Aduana Stars will host Tema Youth. Aduana is sixth on the log with 41 points whiles Tema Youth on the other hand is eleventh with 32 points. The secret of Aduana has been their right fullback Godfred Saka and if he finds a good day on Sunday then the home side will pick the three points at stake.
Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs will play home-away-from-home at the Tema Park as they host the ‘caged’ Lions. Dwarfs have really swam hot sea this second round after the FA slam them with a ban due to crowd violence after their week 21 match against Aduana Stars at the Robert Mensah Stadium but they have come back in grand style and are currently tenth on the table with 35 points.
Hearts of Lions have not found it cool either this particular season and are really battling with relegation for the first time since they joined the premiership a decade ago. Lions are twelfth on the table with 29 points and a slip of point at this time of the season can dearly cause their exit from the league.
At the Nana Gyamfi Park in Bekwai, New Edubiase united will host Berekum Arsenals who are struggling to leave the relegation basket. Edubiase is fourth on the table with 42 points whiles Arsenals are fourteenth with 26 points.
Edubiase may play without their goal monger Emmanuel Baffour who is leading the goal king race with 21 goals and looking to brush aside Ishmael Addo’s record of 22 goals in a season. The striker according to sources is due to travel to Turkey this weekend to have his medicals at Antalyspor.
Bottomed club Wassaman united will engage relegation scared club Mighty Jets at the Tarkwa T&A Park. Mighty Jets is thirteenth on the table with 26 points whiles Wassaman is sixteenth with just 23 points. However, the match between Berekum Chelsea and Accra Hearts of Oak has been rescheduled to next week Thursday due to Chelsea’s continental assignment in Cameroon against Cotton Sport Garoua.
