On leave Asante Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Dramani has come to terms that his services are no longer needed at the club.
In the second of his accumulated 120-day leave handed him by the club’s board due to a streak of unimpressive results in seven games of the 2014/15 FCPPL, the astute technical handler has written to the club thanking the Board for the chance given him to serve Kotoko.
Supersport.com previously revealed that Dramani was informed of the need to resign and settled amicably at a meeting with the Opoku Nti-led management but scoffed at the proposition last week Thursday.
But with heavy rumours and speculations of his replacement already lined up, the Caf coaching instructor in his letter, has asked for the need to find an amicable settlement of his current contract which expires at the end of July. He wants a 4-month pay-off - same as the leave period and the club has gladly accepted.
Coach Dramani has been speaking to supersport.com about the decision to have him step aside as the club seeks to banish their early season woes.
“If your employers think you are the problem and your absence will solve the problems, in my view I have no qualms at all. I have always said this, I’m a professional, I move around with my job. Why do I have to cry over spilled milk?” “The employers believe this [decision] will help the club and for me, my job is very important to me and Kotoko is bigger than all of us. If this will bring peace and good results, I think I have to appreciate it. There is no need to fight. May be my presence is the problem,” Dramani calmly said.
Dramani thinks there is no need for apportioning of blames but rather finding the remedy to the situation the club currently finds itself. He also explains what might have been the problem as he maintains they have been doing their best
“Technically, I think when things don’t go right, you try and find remedy to the situation. I think that what we are going through is just a situation. It usually happens in football.”
“We have almost a new team in place and had a prolonged pre-season as well. It is very likely we hit our peak in the course of it and the types of players now are experienced ones. They might have dropped now but they can come back to their [form]. We think that we are working very well in training and so are the players.”
“Every coach will be worried if you think you are working very hard and then you are not achieving results. Unless you are a lackadaisical coach – a coach who is not working. If really you know you are working and then you think that you should be appreciated with results. You think that your players are working in training and it should be appreciated with good performances and results and it’s not coming, it’s very frustrating. You can’t apportion blame to somebody,” he added.
Dramani joined Kotoko two seasons ago and won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two Super Cups with the club. He however suffered early elimination from the Caf Champions league in two attempts.
