Kumasi Asante Kotoko will know the name of the exact opponents they will face in the first leg of the preliminary round of the 2018/19 Confederation Cup on Sunday November 25 – just three days to the first leg tie at the Baba Yara sport stadium.

Lion Blessé de Fotouni and Lékié’s Eding sport will do battle on November 25 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde in the 2018 Cameroon Cup final which is the second highest competition in the country and the reward for the Cup winners is a tie against Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in the Confederation Cup which is taking a new format starting from this season’s edition.

The first leg will take place in Kumasi on November 28 whilst the second leg in Cameroon will be played on either December 4th or 5th.

The competition will no longer be played in one calendar year and now takes the same format as the equivalent UEFA club competitions that are played from August to May.

The Cameroon Cup final was initially scheduled to take place on 17 October 2018 and was to be graced by the President elect Paul Biya who was re-elected on 7 October for another seven-year term but the President of the country could not find time to attend and that resulted in the postponement of the Cup final – the first biggest soccer match in Cameroon following Biya’s big re-election.

Meanwhile the minister of Sports and Physical Education Pierre Ismael Bidoung Mkpatt has called on both Cup finalists to sell a good match and use it to honor re-elected President of the Republic Paul Biya who will be in attendance on November 25 when the two teams meet.
