Kotoko top, but not champions yet

Asante Kotoko beat AshantiGold 2-1 at the Essipong Stadium in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors have accumulated 53 points to lead the log, but are tied on points with staunch contenders Berekum Chelsea who also won their game on Sunday.

Ransford Osei scored his third goal of the season with the opener in the 11th minute, but the lead was cancelled by Mohammed Latif before the interval.

Kotoko, who are serving a home ban, restored their lead courtesy a Michael Akuffu goal six minutes into the second department.

The victory retained the defending league champions at the summit of the table as Berekum Chelsea keenly pursue them for a second top flight title.

The Blues earned a lone goal at the Golden City Park through Landry Bosson’s penalty to beat Aduana Stars.

Both sides need a win on the final matchday to determine who win the 2012-13 season in the Ghana Premier League.

The game between New Edubiase and Hearts of Oak was rained off after the Phobians had been in a 1-0 lead with 13 minutes to go.
