Kotoko players will not suffer pay cuts Kotoko players will not suffer pay cuts

Management member of Asante Kotoko Nana Kwame Dankwah says they have discussed pay cuts with their players but will not impose pay cuts it on them.

Ghana is one of the many countries in the world that has been hit by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Not only is the economy of the country hit, but the finances of football clubs have also been greatly affected due to the suspension of football activities in the country.

In the midst of it all, it has been proposed that clubs should consider cutting the pay of players and even its staff to help them survive this period.

“As we speak, because of the [Covid-19] situation, the team is on break. The technical team and the medical team gave a programme to the players. I believe they are following it.

“Apart from that, there is this issue of pay cuts. Management has spoken with the Head Coach. He is to discuss it with the playing body and revert to us. At the moment, that is what we are confronted with. We are not imposing it on the players. We need to discuss it with them so that there will be [amicable] agreement. We are waiting to hear from them” said Nana Kwame.
