Former Kotoko defender Rashid Sumaila is optimistic about the Club’s chances of winning the Ghana Premier League this season.

The Porcupine Warriors are hoping to clinch the domestic top-flight after losing out to Regional rivals Ashanti Gold last season.

Kotoko having begun the season on a poor note bounced back strongly from a defeat to New Edubiase to record a famous win over Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

Sumaila who won the League title with the Club three seasons ago says the Reds still hold a chance of annexing the League title this season.

Yes I did and Kotoko did well. Before the game they had lost to New Edubiase so everybody was not sure Kotoko could win. They did well. Better luck next time to Hearts,” he spoke to Ghanasoccernet

“Yes it’s possible. Twenty matches left and everything is possible. So they can still win the league.”

Kotoko are currently 9th on the League table with 14 points.

Coach Michael Osei’s side will are seeking their fifth win of the season as they prepare to take on an unimpressive Ebusua Dwarfs side at the Babayara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Kotoko prior to last season had won the League title on three consecutive occasions.
