Former Black Stars coach Charles Kwablah Akonnor has joined calls for the national team to be built around the talented West Ham forward, Mohammed Kudus.

Akonnor noted that Kudus has made an immense contribution to the Black Stars and it would be better if the team were built around him.

He stressed, in an interview on Channel One TV, that the final decision rests with Coach Otto Addo, who has his own playing style.

"He is our star; we can't argue about that. He is the person making waves for us as far as Ghana soccer, or Ghana for that matter, is concerned; he is the one making the name for us," Akonnor said.

"So, there is nothing wrong with that; however, it is up to the coach to know exactly what to do. He is a good player, a young chap who has developed from the youth to this level, so we should be happy to have someone like him."

Mohammed Kudus came alive for the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he scored two goals, and he replicated the same at the 2023 AFCON.
