Samuel Kuffour had mixed fortunes at Roma, but believes he can really prove his talents at Livorno this season.
?I am very happy to be here,? explained the Ghanaian international defender. ?I have marked Cristiano Lucarelli during my time in Serie A and I can say he?s certainly one of the best strikers in Italy.?
The 30-year-old won the Champions League, Intercontinental Cup, six Bundesliga titles and two German Cups during his time at Bayern Munich, but has struggled to settle in the peninsula.
A summer signing for Roma 12 months ago, he made just 21 Serie A appearances for the club before this move to Livorno.
?This is my second Italian season and I can?t wait to get started. I?m close to my peak fitness and have even lost a little weight this summer.?
Livorno, who also picked up Rahman Rezaei from Messina and Rijeka?s Dario Knezevic on the final day of the transfer window, were also content with the switch.
?I thank Roma and the player, as he preferred to join us rather than go abroad,? revealed President Aldo Spinelli.
?With Kuffour we have completed our defensive line-up. He has great international experience and is ready to become a leader for this side.?
