Former Ghana international Sammy Kuffour has signed a six-month contract, including an option for two more years, with Ajax Amsterdam, the Dutch club said.

The 31-year-old defender was allowed a free transfer to Amsterdam by his club AS Rome, who he joined in 2005 after a nine-year spell at Bayern Munich.
