Unconfirmed reports reaching MyNewsGH.com indicate that suspended General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyapong is being considered as a replacement for resigned President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Mr Agyapong has declined comment on the matter when MyNewsGH.com contacted him to establish if he will accept the post if it is offered.

This comes hours after renowned sports journalist and President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Kwabena Yeboah who was tipped as a replacement for Kwesi Nyantakyi stated explicitly that he is not interested.

“I have heard news going round that I’ve been appointed the new FA President. I have had lots of calls in that regard.”

“It’s not something I want to do… We have different roles to play. You do not necessarily have to be the FA President to serve your nation within the footballing context”, he responded to the reports.

Based on his decline, many are of the view that Kwabena Agyapong could be the next target though the Ghana Football Association has given an indication that it is ready to work with the government of Ghana towards the restructuring of the Association.

The association is currently going through turbulent times after investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposed some shady deals involving its top brass in his latest investigative piece dubbed “Number 12”

But the question many are asking is whether Kwabena Agyapong will be a right replacement for the embattled GFA president who is fighting hard to keep his dignity and integrity.
