Kwadwo Asamoah disappointed at violent scenes by Eq. Guinea fans

Ghanaian international Kwadwo Asamoah has expressed disappointment at the high level of hooliganism exhibited by fans of Equatorial Guinea in the dying embers of the 2015 AFCON semi-final clash with the Black Stars on Thursday night.

Though the Black Stars ended up winning the last four clash 3-0 and booked a place in Sunday’s final against Ivory Coast, Gabonese referee Eric Otogo-Castane had to put the game on hold for over 30 minutes after Ghana fans dashed onto one side of the pitch around the 82nd minute following persistent attacks on them by the supporters of the host nation.

Worrying about the safety of the Black Stars players, technical team and Ghanaian supporters who were being pelted with water bottles and other missiles, Asamoah, the Juventus midfielder, posted on his official Twitter page, “Embarrassing scenes!!! I hope everyone is safe out there. Well done Black Stars #Ghana.”

Ghanaian supporters later needed Police officers to escort them off the pitch side with shields after a helicopter had emerged to patrol the stands, ensuring most of the hooligans left the stadium.
