Ghanaian midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah is leaving Italian giants Juventus for “a club elsewhere”.

Asamoah, who won six Scudetti and four Coppa Italia with the Bianconeris, says his decision “is pure to the interest of my family and it is my hope and wish that the fans would understand and accept this decision”.

Asamoah was signed from Udinese in 2012, having previously featured for clubs like Torino, then in Serie B while a player at Swiss side Bellinzona.

There have been past reports of Asamoah leaving the Old Ladies but on each occasion, he had stayed.

On Friday, however, on social media, Asamoah confirmed the latest reports of his departure from Juventus.

“Neither words nor actions could express the difficulty in taking this decision because I am immensely proud of my time here,” he stated.

“Every single person at the club will forever have a special place in my heart, from the coaches to my teammates, through to the staff, and most importantly the wonderful and vociferous fans.

“Even though Juventus offered me a new contract, I humbly and respectfully opted to commit myself to a club elsewhere.”

Asamoah, indeed, admitted to having played with legends and some of the best players in the world at Juve especially during that era of the golden generation.

“[I] will miss them all.”

He expressed gratitude to “two great coaches” Massimiliano Allegri and Antonio Conte and their coaching staff “for making me a better player”.

He also had one for the fans.

“The unflinching emotional support I received from the fans, even in my worst injury times was so amazing that I feel deep love for this club and will forever appreciate the kindness shown me.”
