Ghana international Kwadwo Poku put up a brilliant display for New York City FC by coming off the bench to score the match-winner in their 2-1 win over the Puerto Rico national team on Friday.

Poku, 23, climbed off the bench and netted the winning goal in the first minute of stoppage time, skirting the Puerto Rican defense to slip a shot past the goalkeeper. The first two tallies came via own goals.

New York, whose inaugural MLS season ended in late October, fielded a lineup of regulars to start the match with their three international stars, Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Frank Lampard, all getting the start.

The Kumasi-born scored four goals and provided 11 goal assists in his debut season in the American top-flight.
