Tema, Oct. 5, GNA - Emmanuel Mensah Kwame returned a gross score of 153 to win the 20th Annual Ghana Seniors Amateur Open Golf Championship at the Tema Country Golf course on Sunday. Gyima Kwakye came second with 170 gross, beating S.D. Odame on count-back while Paul List placed fourth with 171 gross. In the Ladies encounter, Joy Arkutu came first with 173 gross followed by Margaret Owusu-Baah at second position with 176 gross with Florence Etwi-Barimah placing third with 180 gross. In the Handicap Division for Men, Sam Opoku came first with 140 net, Peter Fiagbe took the second position with 144 net while Ampiaw Osei followed in third position with 149 gross.
The two prizes in the Ladies Handicap were won by Grace Amoah and Esther Amedzro with 144 and 153 nets respectively. The two-day 36-Hole event, opened to senior golfers aged 55 years and above was sponsored by Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL). Professor George W.K. Ntsiful, President of the Ghana Golf Association commended the company for sponsoring the event. He called on other corporate bodies, banks and institutions to help develop the sport in the country. Mr Yaw Agyeman Duah, Managing Director of GOIL was assisted by Prof. Ntsiful to present prizes to the winners.
