Kwarasey unwilling to make Ghana return

Portland Timbers goalkeeper, Adam Kwarasey is unwilling to make a return to Ghana squad despite meeting with Ghana coach Avram Grant in the USA, insiders have said.

The 26-year-old keeper has held two separate meetings with Ghana head coach Grant and Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi in the last seven days but has not given favourable response on his return.

According to sources, Kwarasey outlined a host of reasons why he would not want to return to the Black Stars.

Nyantakyi did not sit through the initial meeting that took place between Kwarasey and Grant but the CAF Executive Committee member flew to New York with Grant to watch the keeper in action for Timbers before rolling out another meeting on Monday.

Grant is keen to convince Kwarasey to reverse his decision not to accept invitation from Ghana as the Israeli gaffer is not too convinced about his goalkeeping department.

Kwarasey has gone on AWOL and not accepted invitation to play for the Black Stars after making bad comments about goalkeeper’s training Nassam Yakubu and team-mates in the media after the botched 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign in Brazil.

Kwarasey has been in fine shape for Portland Timbers since joining them before the start of the season from Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset.
