Interim national team coach Kwasi Appiah has told PRAVDA SPORTS 93.5 FM that the yet-to-be named Black Stars coach will have to brace himself up for the pressure involved in making critical decisions as regards to the team.

The GFA is expected to name a new coach for the Black Stars before the 2014 World Cup qualifiers begin in June following the dismissal of Serbian Goran Stevanovic after he failed to deliver the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations trophy he promised.

And former national team defender Kwasi Appiah, who has been an assistant to both of former Black Stars helmsmen Milovan Rajevac and Goran Stevanovic since 2008, after close observation, believes the new coach can only succeed if he employs confidence in taking right decisions.

But Coach Kwasi Appiah, who has ruled himself out of running for the post, admits this comes with a special kind of pressure.

“In every coaching job like the Black Stars, you will go under pressure because they want to win, so coaching is about being able to deal with pressure. The new coach will need to be confident and take decisions on his own,” Coach Appiah told PRAVDA SPORTS.

The former national team captain added: “Everyone can coach but being able to make the right decisions is the most important thing because no one can tell me that anyone who comes into the national team is going to teach our boys how to play football."
