Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council (Exco) member, Dr Randy Abbey has revealed that Sudan head coach James Kwasi Appiah has not attended any Exco meetings since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying draw.

Kwasi Appiah was elected onto the Exco in 2023 after amassing 10 votes. He qualified for the role due to his position as a member of Asante Kotoko's Interm Management Committee.

Dr Randy Abbey believes the former Black Stars manager's absence is to avoid conversation about the forthcoming Ghana-Sudan 2025 AFCON qualifier.

“My friend Kwasi Appiah hasn’t attended any Exco merging since the draw. I’m sure he’s excusing himself because he knows issues of the game will be discussed. Well, his situation is an untidy one,” he told Metro TV.

Ghana were drawn in Group F for the AFCON qualifiers draw in July 2024 along with Angola, Niger, and Sudan.

The Black Stars are winless in their first two games and will hope to get back to winning ways when they face Sudan on matchday three of the qualifiers.

Ghana will face Sudan in a doubleheader with the first leg slated for October 11 and the return leg on October 14, 2024.

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association is the highest decision-making body in Ghana football. It is made up of 22 members, including the President of the GFA.
