Asante Forkuo, the personal aide to the head coach of Sudan, James Kwasi Appiah, has opened up about a conversation that took place between his boss and Otto Addo after the Black Stars drew goalless in the first match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He revealed that after the game, Otto Addo approached Appiah to warn him to be wary of the next game in Libya because his team would not miss chances like it happened.

In response, Kwasi Appiah urged Addo not to take the match too personally because both of them are Ghanaians and it is just a qualifying game.

Asante Forkuo stated that the overconfidence of the coach and Ghanaians ahead of the game led to the defeat the Black Stars tasted during the second leg in Libya.

“Hypocrisy and overconfidence killed Ghana. After Sudan drew 0-0 with Ghana, most people, including Otto Addo, were confident Ghana would beat Sudan hands-down.

"Otto Addo told Appiah personally, ‘You will not be lucky in Libya, I will beat you.’ Appiah replied, ‘We are all Ghanaians,’” Forkuo wrote on his X page on October 16, 2024.

Despite the caution, Kwasi Appiah, who seemed underrated prior to the game, ended up dismantling the Black Stars coach tactically, which led to a 2-0 victory for his side.

After four matches played, Ghana is third in Group F with two points, Sudan is in second place with seven points, while Angola lead with twelve points.

The Black Stars will travel to face Angola and play the last match against Niger in Ghana.
