Coach Kwesi Appiah broke down in tears after his dream of ending Ghana’s 37-year wait for an Africa Cup of Nations collapsed against Tunisia on Monday.
The Black Stars boss was inconsolable in the dressing room tunnel at the Ismailia Stadium following a 5-4 defeat on penalty against the Carthage Eagles after playing out 1-1 in 120 minutes.
An own goal by Rami Bedoui cancelled out Taha Khenissi’s second-half strike as the game went into the extra time and subsequently into the shootout.
The North Africans converted all their spot-kicks with Ghana’s only miss coming from striker Caleb Ekuban.
Reports emerging indicate that Kwesi Appiah is set to be sacked after leading the team to their worst performance in the competition since 2006.
