Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah has been reportedly urged by some influential figures to step down from his position as an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, who is well-connected within the GFA, reported that there is mounting pressure on Appiah to resign, though he has yet to do so.

Abdulai also mentioned that Appiah seems content with his role and is unlikely to resign.

According to him, during a recent Executive Council meeting, Appiah left when discussions about the Black Stars began.

“Grapevines have it that Sudan head coach Kwasi Appiah is being told to resign as an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association. If Appiah resigns, 'Chief of Staff' Michael Bogdan Osekere could be a likely candidate to replace him on the ExCo.

"It doesn’t appear Appiah will step down, though. Apparently, in the last Executive Council meeting, Appiah excused himself when matters of the Black Stars were about to be discussed,” Nabila wrote on X on August 14, 2024.

The pressure on Appiah has increased since his team, Sudan, was drawn into the same group as Ghana for the 2025 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Despite the criticism and concerns about a potential conflict of interest, Appiah remains in his role.

It remains uncertain whether he will eventually resign.
