Kwesi Nyantakyi wants GPL calendar synchronized with Europe

Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi says it is imperative to get the local football calendar in sync with that of Europe.

Currently, the season in Ghana has been inconsistent and unpredictable and the 2017/2018 season is behind schedule.

According to Nyantakyi who owns Ghana Premier League side Wa All Stars, he says it will be beneficial to have an August-May season just like the

''We tried it about eight, seven seasons and it worked but internal wrangling and litigation led to some tampering with the league schedule,'' the CAF 1st vice president told Joy Sports.

''People took the Ghana FA to court and that delayed the start of the league. That is what has brought us where we are now [two years behind], now we struggling to realign again, it might take us two or more years to realign.’’

''I think it is better to align with the European calendar so when it is time for players to move abroad it's easier and doesn’t affect the team and the league as a whole.

''It also affords the Ghana FA the advantage of gaining easy access to players for releases for national team call-ups.''
