Highly-rated French-born Ghanaian striker Grejohn Kyei scored his debut goal of the season to inspire Stade Reims to a 4-1 victory over Lorient in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday evening.

The 20-year-old talented forward artfully contributed to Reims’ first goal scored by Gaëtan Charbonnier before adding his name to the score-sheet in the 66th minute and being substituted a minute later.

He instinctively positioned himself well inside the box to clinically finish off a move to grab his first goal of the season in four games.

Kyei, born to Ghanaian parents in France, marked his debut for Reims last season when he played three times and scored once after being promoted to the first team from the junior ranks.

He has expressed his readiness to play for Ghana though he will consider a featuring for France should the European country hand him a call-up.

Kyei is the second French-born Ghanaian playing in the French top-flight after Dennis Appiah who has signed a contract extension with Caen.

Appiah developed through the youth system at AS Monaco and joined Caen three seasons as a loanee before making a permanent switch two seasons ago.

Neither of the two players has been contacted by the Ghana Football Association.
