LIVE UPDATES: Aduana Stars vs Raja Casablanca

Aduana Stars are determined to qualify out of the group Aduana Stars are determined to qualify out of the group

Aduana welcome continental giants Raja Club Athletic to the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in what promises to be a game full of action as both sides clash for the first time at any level.

Both teams are yet to record a win in the competition as the visitors failed to pick all three points at home against visiting AS Vita of DR Congo. Aduana, on the other hand, fell 1-0 at ASEC and will be looking to make amends in the Day Two fixture.

The last time Aduana played at that venue was against Fosa Juniors from Madagascar and the 'Ogya Boys', as they are nicknamed, run riot winning 6-1, a result head coach Abubakar Yussif believes will serve a motivation for Wednesday’s game.

"It would be a disaster if we fail to win at home," Stars coach Yussif Abubakar told KweséESPN. "It would put too much pressure on us.

"We are playing as Aduana Stars but we are representing Ghana in the competition," he added. "Whether we do well or not it will be in the name of Ghana.

"We have suffered in Africa for some time and this is a perfect opportunity to make things happen again."

Ghana's standing within CAF's club rankings continues to diminish with each passing year, and the country's teams have diminished since the highs of the last decade.

In 2002, Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak contested the final of the Confederation Cup, but Ghanaian sides have consistently failed to make the group stage of both continental competitions in recent years.

Stars Goalkeeper and captain Joseph Addo says the desire to change that narrative will be part of Aduana's motivation against Raja on Wednesday.
