The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers is currently underway, and Ghana's Black Stars will soon learn their opponents.
The draw is taking place at the SuperSport studios in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ghana finds itself in Pot 1 for the qualifiers of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This position means the Black Stars will not be in the same group as powerhouses like African champions Ivory Coast, Senegal, Egypt, and host nation Morocco.
The qualifying series, set to commence in September 2024, is a crucial step for the Black Stars, who have suffered back-to-back group stage exits in recent editions of the tournament.
The seeding is based on the latest FIFA rankings (as of June 20, 2024), with 48 qualified teams divided into four pots. The teams will be grouped into four pots of 12.
The final draw of the qualifiers will consist of 12 groups of 4 teams (Groups A to L), where the winners and runners-up in the eleven groups that do not include tournament hosts Morocco will qualify for the competition.
Ghana's last AFCON triumph was in 1982 in Libya, and the country is eager to revive its glory days.
The Black Stars will be hoping to qualify for the 2025 AFCON after their abysmal performance at the last edition hosted in Ivory Coast.
