LOC to inaugurate Kumasi and Tamale venues c'ttee

Accra, July 27, GNA - The Local Organising Committees (LOC) for the 26th Cup of African Nations (CAN) - Ghana 2008 - will on Saturday, July 30 inaugurate the Kumasi and Tamale Venue Organising Committees (VOC). A statement from the LOC Secretariat said the two ceremonies would be preside over by Dr Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the LOC with the assistance of some members of the LOC including Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, Alhaji MND Jawula and Mr Issac Hammond.

The statement said the Kumasi VOC, would have Mr Edward Osei Kwaku, former Minister of Youth and Sports as the Chairman with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Chief Executive, Mr Ohene Karikari of the National Sports Council (NSC) Hon Kofi Jumah, a Member of Parliament, Regional Manager Ghana Tourist Board and President of the Chamber of Commerce as members.

The other members are, Mr C K Yeboah, Chairman of the Regional Football Association, and a nominee of the Regional Minister. The Tamele VOC will have Mr Saaka Bole-Naa, Headmaster, Tamale Secondary Shool as the head and he will be assisted by Alhaji Baba Adams Mohammed of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), Mr Ebenezer Hammond of the Tourist Board and E K Kungi of the Regional Coordinating Council. The rest are Alhaji Alhassan Alolo a Businessman, Hon. J Y Labick, a Member of Parliament for Bunpungu and G Y Missodey of the NSC as the other members.

The two committees, among other duties, are to liase with the LOC Board through its Secretariat for the purpose of attaining the objectives of organizing the tournament. 27 July 05
