Former Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston, has mentioned that football has come of age and that no country in the world can be underrated when it comes to performance on the field of play.
The defending Champions of the African Nations Cup, Nigeria, failed to qualify to the 2015 edition, as they couldn’t get past the likes of South Africa and Congo in the Group qualifiers.
And this according to Laryea, should serve as a big lesson to all the football teams who have managed to qualify for the Nations Cup especially Ghana, whom he added have the tendency of being complacent during tournaments.
“Nigeria did not qualify and that is something I was shocked to hear. They couldn’t get past South Africa and Congo, and yet they are the defending champions.”
“This should serve as a lesson to all the teams going to Equatorial Guinea especially Ghana, because right now, no team can be underrated on the field of play”, Laryea mentioned to sportscrusader.com.
For Laryea, every team coming to the tournament is ready to win it and as such none should be rated as ‘small’.
“So far as they qualified they have what it takes to win it so we need to treat every match as if it was a final and go hard at it because I believe we can win the 2015 AFCON”, Laryea added.
