Ex-Ghana international Laryea Kingston has blamed the media in Ghana for his premature retirement from football.
The former Heart of Midlothian midfielder, who represented Ghana at various levels, is still bitter over what he claims an unprofessional practice of labeling players veterans and lacking the verve to continue playing.
Kingston is of the view that at the age of 33 he should still be plying his trade but for some bad reportage from the media about him.
“The media in Ghana is one of the reasons that footballers in Ghana retire early,” Kingston said on TV3
“They are a lot of bad media practice in the country which is not healthy for the development of the game.
“I personally can say that the media played a major role in my early retirement, some of them are highly unprofessional.”
Kingston played for Maccabi Ahi Nazareth and also Vitesse Arnhem.
