Laryea Kingston disappointed in strikers at AFCON 2015

Ex-Black Stars winger, Laryea Kingston has expressed his displeasure at the number of goals scored at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations so far, claiming that African strikers seem to have a challenge placing the ball in the back of the net.

Only 11 attackers have contributed to the 26 goals so far recorded in 14 group matches at the Equatorial Guinea 2015 tournament.

Laryea Kingson insists strikers at the AFCON 2015 must sharpen their arsenals to improve upon the 49 goals that were recorded at the end of the group stage of the South Africa 2013 AFCON.

“I have been a little bit disappointed throughout the tournament because during the World Cup, you could see teams scoring goals but in Africa, it’s like goal scoring is our problem,” Laryea Kingston told GTV.

“You can see our strikers in Europe even struggling to score goals which is not the best for the continent. The teams should start scoring more goals,” he added
