Ghanaian midfielder, Lawrence Agyekum has expressed disappointment after his league debut for Cercle Brugge in Belgium ended in a defeat to Westerlo.

The former WAFA player joined the Belgium outfit in the summer transfer window and was making his second competitive appearance for the club after coming on in the Europa League qualifiers against Kilmarnock last week.

Agyekum was handed a starting role alongside compatriot Francis Abu but Brugge suffered a 3-0 loss at the Het Kuipje.

"Mixed emotions after losing the first league game of the season, but proud to have made my debut. We live to fight another day," he posted on X after the game.

The 20-year-old is expected to play a key role in Cercle Brugge's campaign following their involvement in domestic and European football.

Cercle Brugge will host Kilmarnock on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League qualifiers. The first keg ended in a 1-1 draw in Scotland.
