Kwame Opare Addo, Communications Manager of Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, has expressed worry over the sudden indefinite postponement of the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League (GPL), scheduled for February 11 at all league centers.

The 2017/18 GPL and related activities were put on hold, after Accra Great Olympics, secured a court injunction preventing the GFA from starting the league this weekend.

The injunction means premier league clubs, would have to wait for the GFA to battle Great Olympics in court, before paving the way for the start of the season.

Mr Addo in an interview with the GNA Sports said, the postponement would have a significant effect on their plans for the season.

He said the delay would bring more financial stress on the club, since they have to spend extra money on camping the players and wait for the new date.

“The change of plans would affect all clubs in the GPL clubs, would incur extra cost to prepare since there would be a further extension of the league proceedings,” Mr Addo said.

“Player psyche would also be affected as they would have to wait for the unknown. So indeed everyone involved would be affected and that includes the supporters as well,” he added.
