Black Stars of Ghana coach, Avram Grant says the Ghana Premier League is competitive but could improve if there is the injection of more money into the league.
The Ghana Premier League has come under immense criticism for its quality and the competitive nature.
It will be recalled that agent of the Black Stars coach Saif Rubie castigated the quality nature of the league insisting there are not quality players in the league.
Others have also raise concerns about the performance of Ghanaian clubs in African Club competition arguing that our team lacks quality.
But Grant, who has been heavily criticized for his neglect of the local league says the league is competitive.
“Ghana league is very competitive. The players are given everything. I see a lot of passion in the league but I don’t like the idea of players running away with 16, 17 and 18 years of age."
“I understand because of money issues but I think if we improve the pitches here (Ghana) and we find more sponsors and more money the players will not run away. I understand when players go and play in Europe but I don’t understand players going to Azerbaijan, Jordan and Uzbekistan,” Grant told Metro TV.
