Former football stars Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto'o are among those to expressed their displeasure at reports that possible vaccines for novel Coronavirus could be tested in Africa before being used elsewhere.
Two doctors appeared on French TV proposing using Africa as a location for testing different coronavirus vaccines to see if they work.
"Africa isn't a testing lab," Drogba tweeted in response.
"I would like to vividly denounce those demeaning, false and most of all deeply racist words.
"Help us save Africa [from] the current COVID-19 and flatten the curve.
"Do not take African people as human guinea pigs! It's absolutely disgusting.
"African leaders have a responsibility to protect their populations from those horrendous conspiracies."
"Welcome to the west, where white people think they are so superior that racism and debility becomes commonplace," Demba Ba tweeted. "Time to rise."
"Sons of b****es," Eto'o replied to Ba's tweet.
"Africa is not your playground."
