Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach CK Akonnor insists the general public should leave Kwesi Appiah to decide if Safiu Fatawu is good to be in his 2019 AFCON team or not.

Speculations in the local media are that Kwesi Appiah is keeping a close eye on the in-form Kotoko striker ahead of the 2019 AFCON but Akonnor maintains his compatriot should be left alone to decide on Safiu.

“The truth of the matter is he has done well no doubt but whether he will be called into the national team is not in our hands, it is in the hands of the manager,” Akonnor told Oyerepa F

“So I think he’ doing a goos job there are a lot of players and we should leave it to him to decide.”

Safiu who has previously played for MLS side Portland Timbers joined Kotoko from Techiman Eleven Wonders late last year.

He was very instrumental as the Porcupine Warriors reached the Group Stages of the 2019 CAF Confederations Cup. Currently, Safiu is arguably the best player in the Normalisation Competition League.
