Former Ghana international Baffour Gyan has expressed his support for the Black Stars' recent success in the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Mali and the Central African Republic.

Ghana rejuvenated their qualification hopes after securing consecutive wins in the early June qualifiers.

The Black Stars achieved a significant away victory over Mali on June 6 in Bamako before returning to Kumasi to defeat the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium, marking two consecutive wins.

The former Black Stars striker, in an interview with Koforidua-based Swiit FM, called for prayers from Ghanaians to support the Black Stars in achieving further victories.

"We've won two games in a row, so let's hope and pray for more victories. You can't discount the importance of prayer. It's very important. Having won two games, I hope the team continues this winning streak in the upcoming matches," he said.

Ghana currently holds second place in the 2026 World Cup qualification standings, with 9 points after four games in Group I.

The World Cup qualifying series will continue in March 2025.
