Lions/RTU outstanding match on Feb. 23

Accra, Feb. 7, GNA - Last-minute substitute Real Tamale United would trek to Accra on Wednesday, February 23, as guest of sensational Kpando Heart of Lions in an outstanding Coca Cola Top Four match, a statement from the Ghana League Clubs Association's (GHALCA) secretariat said on Monday.

RTU replaced Kotoko barely three two weeks ago when the Porcupine Warriors pulled out from the competition after their opening match. Kotoko abandoned their first match against Lions with just three minutes of playing time left because of a penalty awarded against them. The two teams had scored a goal each at the time of the incident.

Angry Kotoko fans ripped off 301 seats at the May 9 Stands and hurled them unto the tartan tracks to register their displeasure against an apparent unfair officiating against the club.

Subsequently, the results of the Lions-Kotoko match was annulled and RTU asked to step in for Kotoko.

The pride of the North (RTU) received their baptism of fire with a 3-0 bashing at the hand s of defending champions King Faisal in their first match and just last Sunday, lost 0-1 against "big boys" Hearts of Oak.

They are glued at the bottom of the standings without a point while Lions have two points. Faisal and Hearts top the pack with five points each but the "Kings" have superior goal difference. Meanwhile, the second round of matches' kick-start this Wednesday, February 9, at the Ohene Djan (Accra) and Kumasi Sports Stadia respectively. RTU welcome Lions at Kumasi while Hearts lock horns with Faisal in Accra.

According to the revised fixtures released by the organisers, GHALCA, Lions would host Hearts in Accra on Sunday while Faisal clash with RTU at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on the same day. The final round of matches are scheduled for Sunday, February 27, as Hearts come up against RTU in Accra and Faisal meet Lions in Kumasi.
