Lions beat Okwawu at Kpando

Kpando, June 29, GNA - Hearts of Lions improved their standings on the log of the 16-club GT Premier League with an emphatic 2-0 win over visiting Okwawu United in their 11th-week match played at the Kpando Park.

The home team made their intensions clear from the blast of Cape Coast-based referee Geoffrey Amamoo when Sadat Abukari, Jerry Akaminko and Eric Bekoe harassed the Okwawu defenders in a bid to open the scoring. Their efforts yielded the needed dividend in the 12th minute when a two-man move between Sadat and skipper Obed Ansah found Bekoe to beat Okwawu's goalie Emmanuel Doe for the opener.

Sadat made it two from a spot kick after Okwawu's defender Gabriel Boateng had brought down Bekoe in the penalty area. Jerry Akaminko was presented with a One-Touch top-up card from the league sponsors Ghana Telecom (GT) for being the best player. At the Sunyani Coronation Park, Bofoakwa drew 0-0 with visiting Liberty Professionals.
