A board member of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Augustine Arhinful, has revealed that players in the Ghana Premier League are not paid well and that can pose a threat to football in the country.

In an interview with Onua FM, the former AshantiGold forward said that the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has submitted document to the meet the Ghana Football Association (GFA) earlier but has not yielded results yet.

“[PFAG] have sat down to realize that issues like these we need to have talks with those in charge of football.

“We submitted a document to them some time back so that we could meet them to discuss the issues but we haven’t had the privilege to do so.

“We all have been in this situation before. The effect is that all these things affect the play of Ghana. And this comes to the fact that players are not paid well in this country.”

A former leading scorer in the local league and one time the most expensive player from the Ghanaian top flight league following the move to the Grasshoppers in 1993, Arhinful added that players are moving from the country because their salaries are not enough and that can pose a threat for Maxwell Konadu’s Black Star ‘B’ team.
