The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) has announced a prize package for Ghanaian athletes participating in the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, said, his outfit will pay each athlete, 10,000 USD as prize money for gold medals, with 5,000 and 3000 USD going to silver and bronze medalists respectively.
Speaking in an interview with the GNA Sports, the minister said, package was designed to motivate the athletes to give off their best in the competition.
He said they were looking forward to a much more improved performance in terms of medal ranking at the 20th edition of the competition.
Oppong Asamoah expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations by the host nation adding that he had learnt a lot from the organisation of the event.
“I have learnt very useful lessons here so far and will discuss them with the minister, for possible implementation”, he stated.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Razak Abugiri, is the sole medal winner in the team having won bronze medal in the Judo competition.
