MP backs Kotoko’s interim coach

Ranking Member on the Youth and Sports Select Committee of Parliament and a supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kojo Baah Agyemang, has expressed confidence in the club’s interim coach, Michael Osei, to do well in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Dauda Mohammed helped the team to record its fastest goal of the season, when he netted the ball in less than 15 seconds, to help Kotoko secure their second successive victory in the GPL by defeating Dreams FC 1-0 at the Dawu Park Wednesday April 20.

“He [Michael Osei] has played two FA Cups, which he has won… so, it should tell you that he is capable of handling the team. For me, what matters is the win. If somebody is handling the team, and he is not giving you the needed results, what again will you be expecting? So, for me, if a coach comes in and he wins three successive matches [then] he is up to the task,” the Asante Akyem North legislator told Class Sports’ Desmond Decker after the game.

Mr Baah Agyemang added that he was impressed with the attendance and momentum the Ghana Premier League was gaining.

“I am so excited. If you compare this year’s output to last year’s, it should tell you that we are progressing. That is why we have all put ourselves in the game to see how best we can lift and develop Ghana soccer. To me, as an ardent sports enthusiast and administrator, I am happy about the trend,” the lawmaker stated.
