MP donates footballs and jerseys to clubs

Nkwaeso (B/A) May 27, GNA - Mr. Simon Addae, Member of Parliament for Techiman South has donated five footballs and three sets of jerseys valued at seven million cedis for distribution to football clubs in the constituency to promote sports development in the area. The MP announced when he presented two of the balls and two sets of jerseys to Nananom Football Club and the Techiman Municipal Sports Association at a football Gala competition at Nkwaeso at the weekend at which seven of Third Division clubs participated. The Clubs were made up of Akumadan Red Lions, Akumadan Faabia, Nkwaeso Nananom, Kenten AC Milan, Amoma Real Madrid, Konkrompe Iron Breakers and Tuobodom Red Lions.

Mr. Addae said the gesture was to encourage the youth in the area to develop and harness their interest for sports as well utilise their sporting potentials.

He urged members of the Clubs to guard against acts of indiscipline and other anti-social activities during and after matches so as not to disturb to socio-economic development of the area.

"Sports promotes unity, peace, understanding and development and as such all must get involved", he stressed.

Mr. Oduro Asuamah, Chairman of the Techiman Municipal Sports Development Association commended the MP for his foresight in helping the youth to utilise their pastimes in useful ventures. He however warned that the Association would not countenance any wrong doing by any of the teams and that anyone who misbehaves would be punished accordingly.

The Chairman said that due to indiscipline attitudes and misunderstandings, clubs from Asueyi and Forikrom have been expelled from the third division to serve as a deterrent to other clubs in the Municipality.

Kenten AC Milan won the competition when they beat Akumadan Red Lions by six goals to five on penalties to carry away a trophy and a new set of jerseys donated by the MP.

Nana Foase Gyau, chief of Nkwaeso commended the MP for the donation as well as the organizers for selecting the area to host the competition.
