Two-time winners Medeama inched closer to their third final in history with a 2-1 victory over Amidaus Professionals in the 2017 MTN FA Cup.

The Mauve and Yellows scored twice under 20 minutes to take full control of their quarterfinal tie with the Tema-based side at the T&A Park in Tarkwa on Sunday.

It was Rashid Nortey who opened the scoring when he slammed home a low grounder from close range in the 10th minute.

7 minutes after, experienced Latif Salifu doubled the advantage.

Amidaus Professionals refused to go down easily as they improved their game in the second half and deservedly halved the score line through striker Isaac Amoah nine minutes from time.

But coach Evans Adotey’s men kept their discipline in the final stages to secure their place in the last four of the FA Cup.

Medeama won the MTN FA Cup in 2013 and 2015 – in both instances, it was Kotoko who were put to the sword.
