Maggi Hotels Invitational Golf tees off May 3

Accra, April 14, GNA - The First Maggi Hotels Limited Invitational Golf Championship tees off at the Takoradi Golf Course in the Western Region on Saturday, May 3. Mr George Lee-Mensah, Captain of the Takoradi Golf Club, who announced this in Accra on Monday, said the one-day 18-Hole Medal Play competition is expected to attract about 100 amateur golfers. He said the competition, which shall be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Takoradi Golf Club, has Handicap 18 as the entry requirement for the Men while the Ladies qualification is pegged at Handicap 24.

Mr Lee-Mensah said management of the club was putting up adequate preparations to ensure a keenly-contested competition. Among an array of golfers who are expected to participate in the competition are Michael Ben-George, Sam Sowah, Mike Aggrey, Charles Tabi, Felix Majekodunmi and Bob Evans, all of Achimota Golf Club. K. Adjei Boadi, President of the Takoradi Golf Club would lead the host team, which would include seasoned golfers as Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister. Officials of the hotel are expected to grace the occasion.
