Former Heart of Oak captain Mahatma Ousmane Otoo has labelled his former teammate, Thomas Abbey as one of the best players in the Ghana Premier League.

Abbey, who joined the Phobians in the 2011/12 season on a three-year deal from Windy Professionals, suffered niggling injury woes in his early days with the club.

The 24-year-old has, however, overcome his dark days to become a mainstay for the club and has been been one of their key performers in this season's Ghana Premier League as they push to end their eight-year league title drought.

And according to Otoo, who played alongside Abbey for three seasons before departing to Europe, has exalted his former teammate, claiming that he's one of the best players in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

"Thomas Abbey was my friend and my room mate who knew what I was doing and now he has adopted it and is working hard and so today I can confidently say he is one of the best players in the league," Otoo told Graphic Sports.

"Football is not about individuals but team work but I am very happy for Thomas Abbey now because he is doing well and I am hoping he can do more than I did for Hearts of Oak," Otoo predicted.

Abbey has plundered in 12 goals and registered four assists to help Hearts to 3rd on the table after 24 matches.
