Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru netted his first goal of the season to power Anderlecht to victory in their Belgium Pro League game against Royal Antwerp.

The Black Stars ace needed only five minutes to register his name on the scoresheet after replacing Mario Stroeykens in the 74th minute.

Ashimeru, who missed most of last season due to injury, is enjoying a great start to the campaign with back-to-back victories for the Purple and White.

The 26-year-old, who extended his contract just before the start of the season, started in the league opener against STVV last week before stealing the show as a second-half substitute on Sunday.

Anderlecht got off to a bright start after Senne Lammens netted an own goal before the hosts levelled later in the first half through former Tottenham defender Tobi Alderweireld.

Ashimeru then smashed home the winner with ten minutes remaining.

The skillful midfielder is expected to return to the Black Stars team in September for the AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Sudan.
