Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris refuses to criticise his move to Russia where he struggled to glitter.
The 22-year-old signed for Spartak Moscow after emerging the best player and top scorer in the Swedish top flight in 2012.
Waris, however, struggled to replicate his impressive form while with BK Hacken in Russia, and has scored just one competitive goal for Spartak Moscow.
Waris’ barren run got many questioning his quality, especially with reported interest from English giants Chelsea before he left for Russia.
The Ghana international has, however, proved his doubters wrong with his loan move to French club Valenciennes where he has scored six goals in 10 Ligue 1 games.
Waris’ impressive goal return in France clearly points to perhaps a wrong decision he took to go to Russia just when his career was taking off.
But the Right to Dream Academy graduate refuses to criticise his move to Spartak – keeping in mind his move to Valenciennes is only temporary at the moment.
“In football, when you make a choice, you make a choice,” he told GFA TV.
“It can be good and it can be bad, but you have to keep on working hard.
“When I got there, I was doing well – scoring in pre-season then I had an injury.
“Then when I came back things got a bit difficult for me.
“But they love me there, I like the place as well, so we’ll see what the future holds.”
Waris' rich vein of form excites many, with three months to the start of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The tireless hitman is expected to continue with his potent partnership with Asamoah Gyan to help the Black Stars succeed again at this year’s finals in Brazil.
